We've stayed at this hotel before, however it was in one of the more expensive rooms in the Main Tower. Having to settle for a cheaper room didn't seem great at first, but upon entering the room we were pleasantly surprised. Most of the decor is basic (which I quite like) but the main surprise was the size of the room was no different to our more expensive room a year ago. Japanese rooms are always shorter on space, but there was always enough room. The staff were excellent and very polite, despite their broken English. This hotel is a great place to stay as the facilities around the complex are fantastic, and the station is a great hub for getting around the city.

My husband and I stayed for four nights in the Annex Tower and one night in the Main Tower. The room in the Annex Tower was very comfortable and clean and had free internet. The Main Tower felt slightly newer for decor, but again comfortable and clean, but had to pay for internet. The staff are very friendly and efficient, even going out of their way to check us into a room before check in time. The hotel is in a great location, opposite Shinagawa Station, were you can get the bullet train or the JR Yamanote line which takes you to all the sightseeing locations in Tokyo. There are also restaurants, bars, cafes and convenience stores directly around the hotel. Within the complex of the hotel, there are shops, cinema and bowling alley. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

We spent 9 nights in Tokyo. We stayed on the 35th floor of the main tower. The rooms are remodeled and clean. They are very small - just big enough for two people but fine. The beds are comfortable. We had free internet access. The location is terrific - right across from the JR train station. All major stops are within a 10-15 minute ride (Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku, Shimashi, Tokyo, etc). The restaurants around the area are good. Our two favorites were the izakaya next to the bowling alley and the dinner buffet @ Luxe.

Great location and good accomodation overall for this price in the downtown Tokyo.

Great location, staff is friendly, rooms are clean and very helpful. Every time I visit I stay at Shinagawa Prince for the great location. The train station is right across the street, shopping area such as yurakucho, ginza and shibuya are very close.

To get into the hotel it was a little difficult because I didnt know which exit to go out (i think its the east exit) then i saw the hotel but didnt quite know how to get into it so a security guard helped me out..then i went to check in and was at the wrong check in so had to go to the other check in but the staff were very nice. Booked the airport bus as well. Room very nice, good sized bed. In the morning i was waiting for the bus and when it came was told i had to buy a ticket so luckily i got one in time, but all in all a good stay (single male? watch out for prostitutes out the front!)

The Shinagawa Prince Hotel is conveniently located across the street from the Shinagawa Train Station which can take you almost anywhere in Japan. The Hotel it self is nestld within a shopping district with great restaurants, shops, movie theater, bowling alley and even an indoor aquarium. It is a great location and great price for the area. I would especially recommended it for families. There was one downside the twin rooms in the North Tower are very small, but never the less comfortable. The staff where very nice and supremely accomidating. I was most definetly satisfied with the service and my room.

Located by the train station and easy access to hotel and train makes this a great location for tourist. My first trip to Japan and this hotel was highly recommended to me by my Japanese friend who visits Tokyo 3-4 times a year.

Not exactly the best hotel I've stayed at, and certainly nowhere near the 5* that it claims to be - our room was more like I would expect in a 1-2* hotel. Our room was very small, adequate for what we needed for 2 nights though, but wouldn't like to have an extended stay in one. The room decor was very dated and was badly in need of a refurbishment. The walls were pretty dirty where they had been brushed past due to the room's small size, and where the vents from the TV blew out the dust it was filthy. The dressing table had varnish peeling off, and the chairs in the room were 1970's velour and very dirty. We also didn't notice until the 2nd day, but the duvet was not in a normal duvet cover, just had a thin spread over the top and a sheet underneath but the actual duvet in the middle was all frayed and looked very worn - not nice after having spent a night in it !!. If they used a normal cover we could have been non the wiser. The hotel has some excellent facilities - not many city hotels have an aquarium and a golf driving range on site, was a shame we didn't get to try them out. The location was good - being right opposite the train station - handy for getting to/from the airport on the direct train without having to take underground trains to connect, but wasn't so good for getting around the city as this often did require stops and connections although the Yamanote line will eventually take you to most places but is the long way round.

Highly recommend; great location

Since I first stayed at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel, I have always gone back to this place. It is directly across the street from Shinagawa Station, which makes it a very convienent starting point to anywhere in Tokyo. The rooms are in good condition. You can get a single (which is small) for cheap, or you can get a really nice room for a bit more. There is quite a range. They also give you a toothbrush which I like better than most I find in the stores. I always keep mine every time I go.

Incredibly inexpensive for Tokyo. Tradeoff is that the immediate neighborhood has few attractions and distance from "hot" areas prohibits a realistic walk back to the hotel. So one is tied to the schedule of the last JR Yamanote train back to Shinagawa Station by around midnight (check schedule). Otherwise, you'll be spending a lot for a taxi ride back. If you don't plan on staying out late (or stay out until dawn when the trains start running), then this hotel is perfect since it's right across the street from the station and the Yamanote Line takes you to all of the major transportation nodes. There are, however, no subway stations within convenient walking distance so you'll have to take the Yamanote Line and transfer to the subway line you desire. Hint: Buy a Passmo card at the Information booth and charge it up with 2,000 or 3,000 worth of yen so you won't have to figure out the fares and fumble for change at each gate. It's good for both the JR Yamanote Line and the different subway lines.

I booked a main tower room on a high floor, so I believe this falls into the "renovated" category. The room size is about expected; a queen bed dominates the room, but there's enough room for a small table and chair and sufficient space to get around the room, so long as we kept our luggage tidy. The bathroom was smallish and nothing like more upscale Prince hotels replete with separate tub and shower, but still fine. Free internet access, albeit wired, was appreciated. Location was convenient to the Shinagawa station, which as others say, is great for JR, shinkansen, and airport trains. There's also a good grocery - great for take-away meals - in the adjacent building sublevel. An all-day JR Tokyo visitor pass will only set you back 700 yen and is worth it. I think if you add Tokyo Metro, it adds a few hundred more yen, but you can get by with mostly JR.

6 moths ago, we stayed at the annex bldg; I did not like it. But this time we stayed at the Main Bldg, I like it and I will ask for it again on my next visit to Tokyo. Also we had blackfast 3 mornings; they were excelllent.

First off, the location couldn't be better. Right across the 2nd busiest train station in Tokyo; Shinagawa Station. You can take the train from NRT to the hotel ranging from approx $10 to $30 or the Limo Bus for $30. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and always willing to help with all my queastions regarding local attractions. The room we were given was small for american standards but comfortable enough for two people. What did it for us was the view of Mt. Fuji from our room and the fact that the dolphin pool was just below our window as well. We had two excellent views. Many restaurants, including a 7-11 store within the hotel complex and very nice souvenirs store inside the hotel. English newspaper every morning, tea and the room made up in a matter of minutes every morning. In fact, we were so pleased with everything that decided to stay an extra night. The hotel even honored hotels.com rate. I'm planning another trip to the region with a stop in Tokyo on the return and will stay at Shinagawa Prince Hotel or its sister hotel next door, Grand Prince Hotel-Takanawa. Highly recommended!!!

Located across of the JR Railway-Shinagawa station, it was quiet convenient for getting around Tokyo. The only draw back was that there were no subway connection thus you will have to take the train then transfer to the subway system to get to specific areas of interest. Rooms were small compared to US but that should be expected. This hotel had an entertainment complex that had bowling alleys, a aquarium, a theater, whale/dolphin show along with other activities that were convenient when the kids got restless. Besides the train station eateries (which were good), there isn't much places to eat at besides hotel restaurants (which can be cost prohibitive).

Prince Shinagawa is a wonderful hotel! The staff is very helpful and has a many conveniences in and outside of hotel premises. It is right in front of Shinagawa train station which makes it possible to go anywhere in Japan! I like that they have the airport shuttle pick up/drop off service, Yahoo cafe, many restaurants nearby, etc... I will stay at this hotel again!

It is a huge twin tower hotel, the size of a mega resort in Las Vegas. Paid a bit extra for a newly renovated double room which turned out to be ultra modern, top floor and included an HD TV,city view, European style furniture, automatic toilet plus included internet. Front desk help seemed a bit cold but could be from the high flow of visitors. The shinagawa train station is one block away. FYI ( metro daily pass will not work on this station). I had a great 4 day stay on this hotel and recommend it as an almost 4 star hotel.

The room was great given the location and proximity of the hotel to the JR station. Staff is nice, professional and easy to work with. The only problems I had with the hotel and the room was that the halls looked dirty for a upscale hotel in Tokyo. And the other problem was that the use of the Internet was not free in the room that I got but was available in renovated rooms, which was a bit unfair.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights on our first trip to Tokyo. Based on another review, I paid a little extra for the "Main Tower High Floor Renovated Double" and was not disappointed. The room was a LITTLE tight with our bags and stuff in the way but the bed was extremely comfortable (a friend stayed in the Annex tower at the same time and said her bed was "hard as a rock.") The rate included high speed internet and when you sign-on there's a screen saying you accept a charge for access however there's a laminated sheet in the room with directions for the internet and it states you will not be charged (we checked out with no problem). The bathroom was great...my wife loved the heated toilet seat with bidet settings. The shower had great pressure and lots of hot water. You can waive getting your room cleaned for a certificate to use in the hotel restaurants or convenience store. As others have stated, the hotel is part of complex with a 7-11, McDonald's, and other shops. Shinagawa station, second busiest in the city, is directly across the street and gives you access to the JR and bullet trains (think a commuter station). You can walk 10 minutes through the streets behind the hotel (going up the hill) to get to Takanawadai station of the Tokyo/Toei Subway (Asakusa line).

I was on the 35th floor and view was very nice but room are very tight as Japanese standard i guess.

Stayed at the hotel twice-Once in East Tower and once in Main Tower. Stayed in the high floor renovated rooms in the Main Tower this time. Excellent room. Bigger than the East Tower and certainly bigger than described. Excellent location-right across from the JR Line. Staff was polite and customer service oriented. Though, staff doesn't speak English well; then again, most in Tokyo don't speak English well either. Excellent shops and restaurants in and around the hotel. Everything in Japan is expensive so hotel prices are reasonable in comparison. Room was very warm because heater was on. Can't open window to get fresh or cool air so only option was to turn off heat vent. Tips: take the airport limo bus, which drops you off at and picks you up from hotel. avoid the expense of going to tokyo city view. go to the tokyo muni bldg instead and it's free.

Great toilet and tub. Comfy for Japan. Nice linens. Friendly staff.

Several convenience stores, restaurants ranging from fast food restaurants to fine dining are either within the hotel complex or just outside. Stayed in the remodeled tower, room was a good size, very clean and comfortable bed- plus free wi-fi.

Upscale Japanese room with all of the amenities. The hotel itself is a maze of escalators, leading to elevators, leading to halls and towers. If you can find your room you'll find some cheeze.

We spent just a nice in the North Tower of the Shinagawa Prince after having spent four nights close by at the Grand Prince New Takanawa just a couple of minutes away. We did this because we spent a night up in Nikko and previous reviews seemed to suggest that this hotel was more convenient for the railway station. Don't bother there's very little in it and this hotel is really cramped and dated. We paid pretty much the same per night as at the Grand Prince Takanawa which was absolutely brilliant - huge rooms, modern decor and close to five star service. Really wouldn't consider this as an option it doesn't compare and we were pretty disappointed. Also good are the Sakura Tower and Grand Prince New Takanwa which are co-located with the Grand Prince. Stay at the Grand Prince though. Sakura is much more expensive and didn't seem as good and the New Takanawa wasn;t as nice.

The Shinagawa Prince had very friendly and attentive lobby staff (they even helped me wrap presents for someone that I purchased elsewhere), clean, comfortable and modern rooms with an LCD TV, a reasonable daily rate, and located in a nice area conveniently close to the Shinagawa Train\Metro Station. There was also some great amenities that I didn't check out, including an aquarium, numerous shops and more. I'm visiting Tokyo again in a few months and wouldn't consider a different hotel -- I was highly satisfied at the Shinagawa Prince.

Hotel is very large, but rooms are very small (although this is typical in Tokyo). Location is excellent if you need the JR line, as well as quick service food options.

The hotel was close to the train station. There were limited places to eat within walking distance. The hotel has a movie theater, but if you don't understand Japanese, that is a problem. The rooms were small, but comfortable. The hotel has an upscale mall, but no souvenir shops within walking distance.

We stayed in the Annex, and it was great. nice room, great bathroom.

I highly recommend the more renovated rooms for the 10 or 20 dollars more per night it will cost. I can vouch for the Main Tower Renovated High Floor rooms. Internet was free for this room type (and about 60Mbps), the room was clean, and you can't beat the location right next to Shinagawa Station. Excellent place. Half the cost of something like the ANA and similar amenities and better location.

The reviews a read before making my reservation said the room was small. Although this was true - we had two twin beds, a small sofa and table, but very little walking room. However, I paid extra for a "renovated" room and was glad I did. The room was very clean, looked like it had been re-painted, comfortable beds, new sheets, pillows, etc. The bathroom was small, but fine. I was very happy with the room and the hotel is in an excellent location near the Shinagawa JR station.

Our room was wonderul, clean, spacious, quiet, comfortable. The restaurants and room service were great. The staff was friendly and very helful. I will stay there again. Recommended.

Rooms in the North tower needs a upgrade... Visible mold in bathroom cabin, old and worn furniture and condition.

not only does hotel is over priced for the quality and size, but on top of that you can't even watch tv, you have to pay additional as well if you want to use their pool. I stayed in the north tower, which is hard to find, the rooms are so small and uncomfortable that you barely have space to move around and fit your luggage. I wouldn't recommend or stay at this hotel again, friendly staff but difficult to communicate with.
