the best experience possible in Bangkok. it might be a little out-of-date in some small details but the service is FANTASTIC and the experience coulnd't been better anywhere else :)

Very close to the skytrain and gets you fast to other parts of the city. Also very close to the boat stop to get to the landmarks by water with ease. The dinner buffet was the only time we ate in the restrauant and it was amazing. All you can eat that included steak, sashimi and even fois gras. The lounge menu is also great and we had a late night dinner there with outstanding service. The room was beautiful and even though there was construction, they put su on a high enough floor that we didn't hear a thing. My husband and I would stay there again for sure. Great value for the money.

Overall a very delicate Hotel with a nice location by the river and a big polside for relxing.

I have traveled in Europe and Asia for work 4 to 6 times per year for the last 6 years. This is absolutely the best full-service, big-city hotel I've ever stayed in regardless of price. The staff was always attentive and helpful, the food was always perfect, the room was tops and the location by the river is just right.

Exeptional value for the money!! We normally stay at the Peninsula but due to economic changes, cancelled the Peninsula for Christmas 08 and booked the lesser priced concierge room in the Kunthrep wing. the wing is away from the main hotel, quieter but felt a little isolated with its separate entrance. the only thing i missed is the fact that unlike the Peninsula and the oriental, the Changri La does not have a boat to take you across river or different dropping off points along the River. Best location in bangkok, on the river, near the Oriental and across river from the Peninsula

The Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok is wonderful. We had a view of the river from our room and it was amazing. Great location next to sky train. The breakfast buffet outside on the river was very, very good, although a bit expensive.

I have stayed at the Shangri-La twice this year (January and July), and I plan to go back again next spring. Tips: Be sure and ask for a renovated room, as those are much nicer. Buffet breakfasts at this hotel are wonderful with many choices. You can skip lunch! Ask if there is a special offer including breakfast and if there is, take it. Both the public pier and the Sky Train station are nearby, offering you easy and inexpensive transportation.

The clerk at reception desk lied to us by indicating that our original reservation was unable to be fulfilled, and instead would, they needed to put us in an upgraded room at the same price...the clerk, however, then lured us into paying an additional fee which would include our breakfast, cocktails, snacks and internet services for $90.00...it turns out that all these services would have been included in our stay in the room we were upgraded to free of charge. When we complained to management, we were told by management that we must have misunderstood the clerk...there was no misunderstanding and when we asked to speak with higher management, after much discussion, they finally understood the arrangements as we understood them to be, and took off the additional charges. We felt lied to and tricked. We were finally pleased to have the charges reversed, however the episode colored our entire experience.

It's a bit wrong to say this, in a great city like Bangkok, but one of the highlights of the trip was this hotel. It is amazing! Make sure you stay in the Krungthep wing. It's more expensive, but it's worth it! We got there at 10 am, knowing that you never get a room that early, but we tried anyway. We were told that the room wasn't ready, please accept our apologies and have some complimentary breakfast (which was excellent) and we'll call you when your room is ready. When we left, we had a late flight, but were allowed to check out at 4 pm at no extra cost and were allowed to continue to enjoy the free perks of staying there, like tea time (a must!) and later complimentary cocktails and snacks. Add in a floor butler at your disposal 24/7, a delicate room and over all fantastic service, and this was by far the best hotel we've ever stayed at!

I struggle to imagine a hotel with better service. Very comfortable with an exclusive atmosphere. Well positioned next to sky train and main river stop. Quality throughout, a most rewarding stay.

Tres bel hotel, tres bien situe (acces direct au taxi-boat et au sky train), confort 5* classique mais un plus au niveau de la qualite du service et des repas (tres bons restauants italien, japonais et thai bien sur).
