I booked an executive suite for 2 nights. Requested 2 beds, but when we got to the hotel, only rooms available were those with a king bed. Hotel staff was rude (and this was special check-in on the executive floor). Said it was my fault, only relented when I produced the hotels.com booking with bed request. In the end, just said there was nothing they could do. Room itself was poor - bathroom was last renovated in the 1970s. The executive suite was supposed to be refurbished, but the quality was poor. Room NOTHING like the pictures we saw when booking. For that price, it'd have been better to go to a boutique hotel. For those never been to Taipei, taxis are cheap and plentiful - so if you are paying extra for this hotel's location, don't bother. Just go with another hotel and take a taxi to city center.

On the positive side, very friendly and helpful staff, convenient location (next to train station and metro entrance in same building) with lots of local shops in walking distance, and nice in-house gym. The downside: rooms were very outdated with 1970's era furniture, bathrooms were functional but badly in need of modernization, and rooms are relatively small with poor lighting. Also poor quality mattress on bed.

Pros: 1) Great access to all transporation: Caesar Park Taipei is at a great location across from Taipei Train Station. Taipei Train Station is the central point for all transportation including metro trains, buses, and railroad trains. The metro train station can be accessed by going to the basement of Caesar Park Taipei so you don't need to leave the air conditioned building during the hot August days. 2) Easy access to shopping and food: Next to major department store, above three underground shopping malls. The streets behind and besides the hotels sells large variety of food from breakfast to midnight snacks. I sugguest trying breakfast at the streets behind the hotel. Cons: 1) Hotel is still under construction: When I arrived in Taipei, the hotel lobby and other floors are still under construction until 08/15/08 eventhough hotel.com representative told me that it's not under construction one week before I left for Taipei. I had to climb up and down the stairs to get to the second floor of the hotel and the street level. There was no elevator available to the second floor of the hotel. This also means going up and down the stairs with your luggages. I am sure that it will be better after construction is done. 2) Construction noises during daytime: The sidewalk is also under construction. There was construction noises during daytime if your room is near the street side. 3) Service Charges: Fully utilize housekeeping. Get your room cleaned everyday. It will be added to your daily room rates.

The room was very nice. They gave me a complimentary upgrade to the executive room type on the executive floor. The staff was also very friendly and attends to any need that you have.
